So, what is it all about?

Well, in recent years, a range of initiatives have risen to develop and empower the world's poorest people and regions through information technologies.

National governments, development agencies, NGOs, the UN and a range of other actors see the transfer and redistribution of IT as a central element in turning socio-economic polarisation—sometimes presented as a growing digital divide—into socio-economic convergence.

A travelogue of 100 laptops

This thesis is the travelogue of 100 laptops from OLPC ending up at a small Nigerian school. I call this school Akila's school and the laptops Akila's laptops after a primary 5 student named Akila, who transferred to the school because of the laptops. The thesis is based on Actor-Network Theory (ANT) and a multi-sited, qualitative fieldwork conducted in both Denmark and Nigeria in the period 2009-2013.

How to replace the freehub on a Focus Concept EX wheel

I have a 2012 Focus Mares AX4 with the freehub worn out – it turns only with a lot of friction.

Focus provided a new one for free even though warranty is expired (if you are not so lucky, try if the freehub suggested by Steffen in the comments will work).

However, it took me some time to figure out how to unscrew the old one. I couldn't find any diagrams or instructions online so if you're in the same situation, here is how its done.

Zotero taking forever to insert citation

Does Zotero take forever to insert a citation in Libre Office. If Firefox hammers away taking up 100% processor power while the Zotero progress bar just keeps going, here might some help to get going again.

The problem has been identified as a broken citation in a random footnote in this thread on the Zotero forums: http://forums.zotero.org/discussion/25173. Rather than a normal grey identifier box, the broken footnote citation only has a grey area around the end parenthesis (as illustrated below).

ANT, I think, is promising because it deals explicitly with the transformative movements, the lines of flights, running through black boxes and segmentarities. And while ANT has been accused of bias towards fact-builders and managers, the processes of translation, the lines of flight, are much more multi-directed, multi-ended, and ambiguous than this.

The following is a dialogue with a scammer posing to be Asma al-Assad. The scammer wanted to funnel money out of Syria using me as intermediate. I would get 40% and a security company in Spain would handle all the practicalities. After sending back and forth a lot of emails and documents, the company finally asked me to do a bank transfer of €2950.

Jeg havde noget rust på en MC benzintank, og ville prøve en kemisk "rust-æder" på forsøgsbasis. Produktet jeg afprøvede hedder Corro Protect Rust Eater og er købt hos Høyer Autodele til lidt over 100kr. Jeg har selv googlet lidt efter erfaringer med kemisk rustfjerning, men fandt ikke så meget, derfor tog jeg et før-efter billede, så man kan se hvor meget det fjerner.

This presentation is about impasse in technological projects and how to describe these within Actor-Network Theory (ANT). In suggesting limbo as a notion I want to point to a painful mode of existence which may extend for many years. As a tempo-spatial envelope, limbo is full of hope, fear, and uncertainties about duration and outcome.
